Rongali – The Bihu Celebration | Handcrafted Bamboo Wall Art

Rongali – The Bihu Celebration | Handcrafted Bamboo Relief Wall Art | 8" × 11"

This piece shows Assam's Rongali Bihu. A dhol player and a pepa (buffalo-horn pipe) player flank a dancer in mekhela chador, with kopou phool, the orchid that blooms in Bohag, hanging above them. The figures are cut from bamboo and layered onto the mat, so it has real relief and depth.

The dhol beats, the pepa sings, and spring dances in on swaying hips. Bamboo figures are hand-cut, painted and layered onto a woven bamboo mat to bring the joy of Assam's Rongali Bihu into your home.
